DAY OLD BREAD: MRS. BAIRD'S

Maybe some of you know this and maybe you don't! Most of us live near a major city where anything we want is available. One of the things I do to save $$$ is shop at a "DAY OLD" bread store. Mine just happens to be MRS. BAIRD'S! I love it! They have hotdog buns, hamburger buns, english muffins, rolls, and just your average sliced bread. I must admit  seeing the store sign for the first time while driving by, I was skeptical. Seriously, is it really a DAY OLD? Come on! Do they really remove fresh bread from the shelf daily at the grocery stores just to move them to a "DAY OLD" outlet store? Yep, they do!! I check into this fact myself. I asked the store manager(whom I have come to know well) about the process of packaged sliced bread that is on their shelves. He confirmed, they do remove bread daily from the shelf just to put fresh loaves of bread back on the shelf. Now, I am laughing at the "fresh" part of that sentence. Fresh to me is right out of the oven. Well, the bread they do put on the shelf is already a day old. HA HA on us! I know y'all know this and no one is a dummy to such matters. However, when I found out how much less the bread at the outlet store was, I decided to invest my $$ and time there. I pay on average a $1.00 a loaf! Nope it is not expired bread. Matter of fact most of you probably have bread on your counter older than the ones at the outlet. You see the outlet replaces the "day old' bread almost daily. They receive a shipment in every morning expect Wednesday. I don't know why only Wednesday. Anyway, that is what I do. I visit the outlet bread store about every 3 weeks and I stock up. I have not had a problem so far with the bread. I freeze most of it and take out what I need when I need it. It has been great! Plus, they have my hubby's favorite kind of bread...oroweat whole wheat. Which at the grocery store can cost up to $3.83 a loaf. Yikes! Don't you just love saving $$$??!!!!!

did YOU know that a person can have the "HOUSE BLUES?"

I have heard of "baby blues" but "house blues?" Yep, it is true! Just like the "baby blues" you feel "overwhelmed."

So, how many of you at times feel overwhelmed? It does not have to be about your house cleaning but maybe it is something else. How do you deal with it? Are you a take it on kinda of person or do you ponder, make a list and then go for it?

I am always interested in how people handle their problems. I must confess that lately I don't want to do the deep cleaning. Maybe it is more like I have a almost 3 month old baby that takes a lot of my time. Trust me, I love spending time with my precious son! I think I am having a hard time figuring out how to wrangle both a baby and manage a household. It is not an easy task! Okay for some of you it is very easy or should I say comes natural to you. My baby bear is going through a growth spurt and he is not consistent with his napping schedule. Typically, that is when most moms do their household chores. It has thrown me for a loop. Yeah, I know what you are thinking..."she only has one kid." Give me a break folks, I am still in what they call "baby bootcamp." Anyway, nothing important here!

Just thought YOU would enjoy the humor in this one....

update: Once I got this off my chest, I got busy doing my deep cleaning. I feel better now! Thanks for listening friends!!!

TIPS(for)Y(ou) THURSDAY

Okay, I just wanted to let y'all know about the EMEAL-Z.COM that have on my blogspot. I have done it now faithfully for a month and can give you an honest opinion about it. First, it is owned by 2 very busy moms(who are sisters) and they have together 7 children. So, right off the bat I knew I was subscribing to a service with EXPERIENCED MOMS! Second, it is meal plans designed for the busy mom! I quote "Busy moms... working moms... work at home moms... new moms! E-Mealz is a simplified system of easy dinner menus, recipes and shopping lists for all kinds of moms." It cost $15.00 for every 3 months. They send you the meals with a shopping list and you can add to the list for other items that you need for the week! You can pick from 19 different meal plans that would fit your family's needs. Low-fat, low-carb, point system from w.w., vegetarian(lacto-ovo), and just your regular meals. You can even pick a store. Kroger, Wal-mart or "any store." No, they don't have H-E-B or Randalls. They are located somewhere on the east coast( I think). The meals average about $75-80 a week. I know, why not do it yourself. That is the whole point.....I was doing it myself!!! It would take me a lot of time to plan each week with different meals. Plus, I clip coupons and compare ads! Nope I am not one of those moms that can do it in a short period of time. I am sure I could become better at it over time but for now I LOVE this service. I mean for an average of $1.25 per week for someone else to send you your meals and the grocery list! Come on...that is a WOW!!! I feel that I can not put a price on the time I get to spend with my hubby and my son. My meals are easy, take less time than before, and I have plenty of left-overs! I forgot to mention one thing, if you don't like a meal for a certain day you cross it out with the corresponding number on the grocery list and move on folks. I think out of 28-30 meals, I have only disliked 1! Go one over to their website and see for yourself.....

I am sure you are wanting to know where I found this service! Well, a big THANK YOU to MRS.TD
. She always has such good ideas. I love friends that do the research!!! =)

The Next Crocodile Hunter

Yep, he could be the next Steve Irwin! Just thought it was cute! My baby bear is getting use to his daily photo session. He even allows me to put props in for entertainment!

Well, hubby and I finally broke down and went shopping for the baby bear. Yep I cleaned out his top draw. We had to buy him new onesies for his nightly sleep wear. He is not a pajama kinda of a baby. He is a "less is more" for him! Thankfully we have not had to buy much thus far. He still has a lot of day to day clothes to grow into but I do see another cleaning out in an month. He is just growing that fast! He had his doctor's appointment a couple of weeks ago and he was 24 inches tall. He is in the 95% for height. They just grow up soooo fast! I am grateful to be able to enjoy every moment! Enjoy your day!

much blessings and love.....

WHAT IS YOUR HOMEKEEPING ATTITUDE LIKE?

Well, I have been convicted by my friend who posted a blog (Getting There)
on her blog spot. I am challenged today re-think how I approach my HOMEKEEPING!!! Sometimes, I do have that attitude of the "bull by the horns." Just get it done, just get it done...I say! I rush through and then wonder why I am so spent. Maybe we should take Susan's approach to HOMEKEEPING??!! Go on folks read her post from Tuesday June 10 2008..

Getting There by Susan..HAVE A BLESSED DAY FOLKS!

(this was our first home cooked breakfast that we had when we bought our home..thought it went well with the topic)

YOU WANNA WHAT???

(who could resist this face)

PLAY MOMMY, PLAY!!!
My sweet baby boy decided after a good nights sleep that he wanted to get up at 4:00 a.m. and PLAY! I think the conversation went something like this:

son: Mommy, I wanna play!

me: Yes, I can see that but look it is dark outside. That means it is time to sleep.

son: So what mommy! I am so rested and happy! Let's play!!!!

me: (sigh) I would love to play with you but see mommy's dark circles under her eyes. She needs her rest. Let's sleep!!!

Okay okay okay! Maybe that is not what was really said between us! You know that all that cooing, giggling, and sounds out of their mouth does mean something. So, that is what I think my happy guy was saying to me so early in the morning! folks I tried everything...swing, bouncy seat, rocking, paci...you name it, I did it!!! You wanna know what got him to sleep after 2 hours of being up. Of course, he had a feeding and all that. I had to wake my hubby up for some help. He took our sweet baby boy and sang to him in his deep voice. Yep, my hubby can sing and he has a nice deep voice. Very very soothing. Our baby boy was out like a light in seconds. I, honestly think that I wore him out and then daddy came in the last second and looked like a hero! Oh well! I am so grateful my hubby was willing to help me since he is the one that has to get up and work so earlier in the morning. He says it was only a few seconds of his time and then he was fast asleep!

So, How was y'alls night???? =)

Maniac Monday

Well, it was a good but crazy weekend!!! First, a big CONGRATUlaTIONS to the most amazing son ever! My sweet baby boy has slept straight through the night the last 3 nights woohoo!!!! Mommy and daddy actually got to go to bed at the exact same time! I have no idea how long it will last but I WILL TAKE WHAT I CAN GET!!! Yesterday, hubby had to work in the morning from home so we did not go to church =(. We had church here at home. Which was really nice the 3 of us praising God. Okay, maybe baby bear couldn't say much but it is never too early to start! Then at 12:00 p.m. we had a transformer go out in our neighborhood. Humm..not sure what God was teaching us. Just kidding! However, we the 3 bears decided to leave and head for Barnes and Nobles where it is always ice cold. It took them 4 hours to fix that thing! Just goes to show you flexibility is key when you have a baby. NO WAY can you keep a baby in that heat for that long. Too hot for baby bear =)! So, needless to say I did not get much done this weekend with hubby working and a transformer that was out! Today, I am trying really hard to get back on track. Since baby bear is well rested and wants to play...I will probably PLAY!!!! Heck, they are only young once. Anyone else feel like Monday is catch up? BY THE time Tuesday or Wednesday rolls around you feel almost back into a "routine"(whatever that means)?! Hope y'all have a blessed day!

To Vaccinate or Not To Vaccinate..that is the question.

So you are wondering, what did this family of bears do for their little bear? Well, first let me say I understand both sides of the fence whether to vaccinate or not. I have friends whose precious little ones have developed autism and believe it is linked to the MMR Vaccine. I also have friends who believe it is not just the MMR Vaccine but the overall process of injecting so many shots in such a short period of time that it compromises babies immune system. Whom am I to argue these parents belief? I also have close friends that truly believe you must vaccinate your children at every doctor's appointment and NEVER sway from that schedule. I want to clarify this is not a blog/post to argue about whether vaccines are linked to autism or not. I was more concerned with what was in the vaccines and why so many so fast. These 2 questions started myself and hubby on a search to figure out what is the best solution for our son. As a parent you want to make the "right" decision! I(we) discovered that it is the type of preservative that is used in these vaccines that could possibly harm ones child. It depends on the child, the genetic make-up, and other variables. Their are children that have received "mercury" based vaccines and have been perfectly healthy and others have not. So, why some do some have it and others don't?? Well, that is another blog/post! Plus, I do not feel qualified to touch that subject! Okay back on track with my thoughts!!! Anyway, I was pleased to discover that our pediatrician used protein subunit vaccines. Which means instead of injecting a live virus or a deactivated virus, they isolate the viruses protein signature and use that since that is what the t-cells latch on to. That is what they(t-cells) recognize as an intruder. This was good news to our ears! Not to mention our pediatrician was willing to go at our pace and show us which ones she believes it absolutely necessary. She(pediatrician), herself wanted better available vaccines for her own children. Wow! Nice to know a pedi that would switch practices just so she could stand behind what she believes in for her own family and her patients! That is good stuff folks! I am a firm believer you must ask questions and find a doctor that you can trust. If you don't, keep looking! So, we did do one vaccine shot that we believed was necessary. Yes, we agree to vaccinate but not at the pace "they" want or all of them. Let me back track. My hubby and I had long conversations about vaccines long before we went to the doctor. This was not a spur of the moment decision. There is a book out publish from a pediatrician who was consider conservative with her views on the "time frame" for vaccines. She gives you a time line for the vaccines to where it spreads them out and it is better for the baby. Plus she narrows it down to the necessities. I must admit I have not fully read the book so what I do know is limited. So, there you have it folks!

2 MONTHS OLD...=)

My baby is 2 months old today! Tomorrow is his doctor's appointment and I must admit I get a little nervous when I go. Hubby is going with me this time to discuss immunization shots. That alone is a mouth full! I have come to realize that people are either for it or against it. I have yet to meet someone who is right down the middle. How you ask can you be right down the middle on this topic? Well, some people pick and choose which immunization shots for their child to get and when to do them. That is what I mean! So, if you are that person please respond! Anyway, just pray for us for tomorrow will be a long day =)!

p.s. for whatever reason my blog says I posted this June 4th but it really is June 3rd at 8:30 p.m. when I wrote this. Just so no one will get confused when I give updates concerning the doctor appointment.
